FAQ

I want to contact the band via email. Do they have email-addesses?
This question is asked a lot, especially when it's Christofer Johnsson's email address asked for. For some reason, everybody in this world wants to email him. Chris and other band members are trying to keep their email addresses private, simply because their inboxes would be flooded by fan mail if that was not the case. So, you cannot have their email-addresses.

However, this isn't the end of the line. If you really want to contact them, there's always the Therion Society in which you can ask them questions and even chat with them online on regular basis.

Where can I get Therion demos/old albums/Golden Embrace movie/rest of the rare stuff?
In shops not. That should be clear to you by now. :) I would suggest looking at www.ebay.com, people are selling all sorts of stuff there. Personally, I bought Paroxymal Holocaust MC, Beyond the Darkest Veils of Inner Wickedness MC, Time Shall Tell LP, Siren of the Woods MCD and many more old compilation albums featuring old Therion tracks, all at Ebay. Pretty neat, eh? But those things cost a bit more than the regular stuff of course, as those are collector's items. Either that or trade, but in any case you're on your own.

Except for the Golden Embrace. For those of you that aren't informed, the Golden Embrace is a movie that Chris did music for, back in 1996. It's a short (relatively) art movie, very weird, and a definitive must for all the fans who heard A'arab Zaraq soundtrack and liked it.
The movie can be found on the 3rd disk of the DVD Box Set Celebrators of Becoming

Where can I buy Therion albums online?
Many places, of course. You could start with Therion Store and you'll get your CDs and DVDs signed by the band members. Then Nuclear Blast's shop, but they have pretty expensive shipping. Or go to www.amazon.com, or cdnow.com, or just go to www.google.com and enter "I WANNA BUY THERION ALBUMS". :))

I want to make an interview with the band. Where should I inquire about that?
For e-mail interviews, through me. For other kinds of interview (phone or vis-à-vis), other people than me. I will never respond to requests other than e-mail interviews. Just mail me, ask for an interview, and I'll patch you through.

When will Therion come to my country / Will Therion ever visit XYZ?
The band does not book their own shows. They have a Management that takes care of all their business and all shows are booked by a Booking Agency. The band does not say "Hey, we wanna play in New Zeeland" and then someone books a show there. Maybe that works for Metallica, but for bands selling less than a million copies per album, it works "the regular way".

The Management and the Booking Agency are setting up the tours and offers to book the band are sent out to all Local Organizers (that's the guys who do the actual organization of the shows) they have on their list. Then the Local Organizers say if the are interessted or not and if they are, then the negotiation can begin. If both parts find the terms acceptable, there will be a show. and another date is added to the Tour Schedule.

When there are enough dates booked that it can be called a tour, it is presented to the band.

The Four Golden Statements and Advices:

  • If you don't see a show in your country in the Tour Schedule, then it means no show is booked there at this moment.

  • If there is no info under the Tour Schedule saying that shows are planned in your country at some later time, or that the management is investigating the possibility to play there, then that means exactly what says.

  • If the band has no plans at the moment to play in your country, then there is no point writing in the Forum or mail the Webmaster and ask "When will the band come and play". It is not up to the band. If you think there are many Therion fans where you live and it would be enough for making a concert there, then find out who is booking the shows for other metal bands there and go together with a bunch of other fans and try to convince them that it's worth bringing Therion there.

The band LOVES to play live and they would be totally delighted to come and play anywhere on the planet as long as there is a crowd waiting and the terms are acceptable.

  • If you live in a place where there are not enough fans to make a show with at least a couple of hundred people, then it is a sad fact that it is very unlikely the band will come and play. No one wants to organize concerts that loose money, so unless you're a millionaire and can afford to bring a band for your private party, your town will remain untherionized ...

And finally, if you really are up to organizing a gig, then read here how a tour is organized.

What can I take from the site?
Everything on the site is owned by megatherion.com, which means that you cannot take anything at all without asking the webmaster first. The only exception to this are albums cover art, news items (not Emails from Kliffoth) and lyrics.

I wish to contact Therion Management.
See the contact page.

I'm not able to listen to the samples on this page. What's wrong?
All the samples and songs are in mp3 format, so virtually ANYONE should be able to listen to them. If you're running Chernobil 98, 2000, XP or any other, you should have Media Player installed. It can play mp3s. Or, I'd suggest Winamp player - see www.winamp.com. If you're running Linux, you are not asking this question, and if you have a Mac, then I don't have a clue since I've never seen one in my life.

I'm not able to watch the videos on this page. What's wrong?
First, download the video you wish to see to your computer. Go to the downloads section and get a BitTorrent client in order to download the files. Once you have it downloaded, you should have Windows Media Player installed, as it is able to run almost all the video formats. There are no .mov videos so you don't need to have QuickTime Player, although that is also an option. Under Linux, I'd recommend Xine. Then again, you wouldn't be asking this if you had Linux at home.

Where can I find the lyrics to the songs?
Go to the Discography section, choose an album, click on it's name, and you'll get to see the songs titles. Click on your song, and voila! Was that hard?

Where can I find the lyrics of the songs that are NOT in the lyrics section?
Either in the Society or nowhere. A lot of songs have never had their lyrics published. For some of them there are translation projects open at the Society. If not, then even I don't know what the lyrics of that song are.

Why am I always alone in the chat room?
Hey, hanging on the net actually costs a lot of money in some countries! :( Or perhaps, everybody's sleeping? Hah! Ever thought of that? If you're looking for some real chat action, I'd suggest join the Society. There are regular chat sessions with Therion band members, so you can ask them and the real fans that are in the fan club whatever you want.

Can I have an email-address myname@megatherion.com?
Nope! Those email addresses are reserved for me and me only. And the mailing lists of course. Even the Therion band members don't have them as they use their own private email addresses. It'd be a mess if we'd have chris2@megatherion.com or johan666@megatherion.com. I hope you understand me.

Which browser do you recommend for viewing this website?
In short, I recommend Opera. Konqueror/Safari and Lynx are other browsers this website officially support. Feel free to use any other browsers, but you are on your own. And of course, stay away from Internet Explorer!

I have made a Therion fansite in another language than English. What do I need to do to make it an official non-English Therion Website?
There are a few rules that you need to follow in order to make an official Therion Website:

  • You need to have a highly visible link to both the Therion Store and the Therion Society. Both should have a description, for example the Therion Store link should have a text like "Buy the official merchandise and signed CDs and DVDs - all sold at low prices".

  • All parts of the site need to be translated.

  • News must be updated within reasonable time after the English website has posted it. It is recommended you subscribe to the RSS feed.

  • The site must at least be in valid HTML, XHTML 1.0 Strict is recommended. And the site needs to work perfectly with the newest versions of Firefox, Opera, Lynx and Safari/Konqueror.

  • Except for the aforementioned adds to the Therion Store and the Therion Society there can be no advertisements of any kind. No Google ads, no banner exchange etc. It doesn't matter if it is you or the hosting service that provide them.

  • The site has to look serious. Keep Flash and gif animations to a minimum.

  • The site has to work for people who have deactivated cookies, JavaScript and plugins.

When you think that the website you have made follows these rules you have to contact the webmaster and if he approves it then you can publish the site.

Note that you must be an official website in order to copy/translate the material of the Therion website and publish it.

Also, if you chose to make a Therion fansite you must state that you do not in any way represent Therion and that any information found on your site might be misleading or plain wrong.
